  TODAY IS NONNA's 102nd BIRTHDAY. 

 No. 2 →  This one is going to sell out, so we are pushing this up a lil early, and it's for the PASTRY FREAKS! Rose Wilde is an amazing pastry chef and author from the west coast who has called upon all the east coast cuties to bake up her menu (like Abi Balangit and Danielle of Win Son!) The evening will involve a moderated chat between her and award winning baker Caroline Schiff, a Q + A, signing, and the manga-ing of six different baked goods.

 M U S I C A   H A P P E N I N G SUN NOV 5 Violalia Duo (Laura Thompson + Hannah Selin) performs 20th- and 21st-century music for violin-viola duo by Bohuslav Martinu, Augusta Read Thomas, and Matthew Greenbaum–a longtime Greenpoint resident. Founded in 2021, the duo embraces the limber, conversational nature of their instrumentation, bringing musicality, curiosity, and a sense of humor to audiences in often-intimate concert settings. For this concert, we are joined by composer/songwriter Dave Ruder and his string trio.

 C O O K I N G   C L A S S FRI NOV 10  Learn to prepare a full seasonal Sicilian meal with the cook/owner of Archestratus Paige Lipari. Come ready to cook a bunch of dishes, stay long enough to mangia, and leave with some delicious recipes in hand.

Rose will be joined in conversation by friend of Arch and award winning baker Caroline Schiff, as well as a very impressive team of baker friends who will be providing an EPIC SPREAD of BAKED GOODS. Finally, a Q + A and a signing. Beverages for sale.

 B O O K B O O K   C L U B THUR NOV 16  Every six-ish weeks we read a new memoir, a collection of essays, novels, or anything else we find interesting that somehow, in a big or small way, relates to food. Then we discuss. Read through Centering by M.C. Richards and join us IN PERSON in November.

 B O O K   L A U N C H SAT NOV 18 Please join us in celebrating the launch of Eating Alone: Essays & Reflections,an anthology of works by 19 writers published by Clotheslines Press. A selection of authors will read, and we will eat, drink and be merry. This event is free and open to the public and copies of the anthology will be for sale.

 C O O K I N G   C L A S S FRI DEC 1  In 3 friggin hours I will teach you how to make killer rainbow cookies! A hands-on, fun-filled experience that engages all your senses (and, in turn, affirms what it is to be alive, etc...)

  C O M M U N I T Y   M E D I T A T I O N SAT DEC 2 Vanessa will give a 15 to 20 minute talk about the connection between food and the present astrology. What ingredients can we call in and mangia during this powerful Sagittarius season? She will then, holding all this food wisdom in mind, lead a short 20ish-minute meditation. 

 A N O T H E R   B O O K   C L U B JAN/FEB 2024 We are partnering with writer Alicia Kennedy for her January/February pick from The Desk Book Club: The Desk Book Club will be a monthly space for discussion on four different food nonfiction books per year, ranging from memoir to reportage to, in some cases, more academic food studies work. Meetings will be held for Alicia's paid subscribers only.
