DZ's Ramp Pesto, a farm and new farm store upstate, our friend who is an Arthur Russell historian returns to the shop, + piu!

the LATEST

No. 1 →  Friend, artist, home cook, and Archestratus collaborator Daniel Zender gifts us his delicious RAMP PESTO every year. (We are fortunate.) This ramp season he made a ton, so now it's your chance to grab some for your very own quick weekend meal. It's so good. He'll be slinging his ramp pesto haul from 12 to 3p at the shop! If weather permits, you will find him outside on the porch.

No. 2 →  Emma Hearst is a pretty fascinating and accomplished person. First off, she's a Hearst Hearst. She co-opened up a Nonna-style Italian restaurant Sorella at only 21. She received a Rising Star Chef James Beard nomination I 2012. Eventually she moved back to her home region of upstate NY and started Forts Ferry Farm. Now, there is a new farm store, and finally, a beautiful cookbook. Come hear her chat with another accomplished human: cookbook author Odette Williams.  $5 or a book  A peek at the farm store:

No. 3 →  We did an event with Michelle T. King for Fu Pei-Mei on Monday, another with the ladies of Kismet on Tuesday, our screenwriting class was on Wednesday, and we had a Bangladeshi potluck with Dina Begum on Thursday. What a week :)

No. 4 →  Happy Birthday week to Arthur Russell: Matt Marble returns to the shop!   Join us for a very special lecture exploring the notebooks of cellist, composer, and musician Arthur Russell. In Matt Marble's book Buddhist Bubblegum: Esotericism in the creative process of Arthur Russell (Coolgrove Press), he dives deep into the mystery of Arthur Russell and offers an unprecedented exploration into his lifelong Vajrayana Buddhist practice.

The evening will take place just days after what would have been Arthur's 73rd birthday and on the Flower Moon (growth, discovery, finding oneself.) Marble will focus on Russell's specific processes and practices derived from his notebooks, but more specifically those glimpsed on the album World of Echo, our personal favorite, and will possibly be featuring some lunar ones... $5 or a book

No. 5  →  Mom's love us. Come by with your mama this weekend. We are mom store.

No. 6  →

Shopping small is vital because if you do not shop small everything you love about living in Greenpoint will cease to exist. Think about it. POOF!  So, si si, we donated gift cards towards a few grand prizes which means prizes are involved. Alas, we are not on the map. This very much might have been our fault (we have not had time to check the receipts.) Either way, you should write us in on the map with a lil bit of your blood and go to the other places, too! Yay! Starts the 11th and goes to the 19th.

No. 7  →  Thank you

Hardcover / The well-known actor and seasoned gourmet invites families to come together in the heart of every home — the kitchen — with another fabulous guide to cooking. Vincent Price and his wife, Mary, authors of the classic A Treasury of Great Recipes, turn their attention to four centuries of traditional American dishes in this charming cookbook. Starting with the chowder, stewed cod, and hasty pudding of early America, the collection ranges through scrapple, apple pandowdy, and other regional favorites of the nineteenth century to the recipes of modern America, from vichyssoise to corned beef cheeseburgers to cherries jubilee.
